Loss of innocence occurs when a young person first develops an awareness to the suffering, evil and pain around them. The person is put into a position where they have to act and respond in a manner that is advanced for their age.


Each of the protagonists in the Life of Pi, Lord of the Flies and Hamlet experiences a loss of innocence in their character. Pi, Ralph and Hamlet all experience the loss of their innocence as they come to face their inner and outer demons. Everyone on the ship is killed with the exception of Pi and the pound tiger, Richard Parker, loss of innocence essay. We watched films on global issues, studied governments that we thought were unjust and we campaigned for societal change.
